I wore this outfit on Sunday, bumming around the apartment and out to the movies (my first outdoor venture since recovering from the sinus cold). It felt so good to wear layered knits.
I’ve had this scarf since high school, and aside from color it has absolutely no pattern–every stripe is different. I love it.
Stripped down.
The whole bag of tricks…

So I know I just recently made a velvet post, but the new dress came and I couldn’t resist. Worn Saturday whilst being lazy, wine shopping, chilling with friends, and cuddling one of my chinchillas (Luna). Good times. (Both dress and rodent are wonderfully cozy.)
I’ve had this cap for years and it matches perfectly. How nice.

In other news, I’ve been stricken with some sort of virus. It is yet to be determined whether it’s the cold or flu—but either way, it’s miserable, and I’ll probably be spending the next few days huddled up in bed. Keep your distance.
For Halloween this year, I decided to evoke the man I most admire (too bad I’m not much of a dancer). His playful nature, unwavering strength, impeccable fashion sense, staggering talent, and pure, loving heart may be ignored by others–but they will never be ignored by me. Not a chance.

Ah–there it is.
I plan to incorporate the glove into my wardrobe whenever I feel the boogie. No lie.
I love you all.
Here’s to Michael Jackson. Long live the legend.

Throughout my youth (from the late 80s to the early millennium) I was a huge fan of velvet. It was riddled throughout my wardrobe, and my favorite things were my purple and black velvet dresses. After high school ended, it kind of went off my radar. I thought it had gone out of fashion, and though I’m not one to follow trends, I couldn’t bring myself to wear it again–until now.
Okay, so this one’s actually velour, not velvet. But I have another velvet dress on the way, and I’m glad to see that velvet and velour are back full-swing (outside of frumpy track suits). I bought this on a whim, and I haven’t felt so happy with an outfit in years. It was so simple–but wearing this tunic while running errands, riding buses, grocery shopping, and going to school kept me happy the entire day. I didn’t want to take it off. That is how clothes should make you feel.

Sorry for the lateness. Next week I’ll be posting photos of my Halloween costume. Hope you can’t wait. I can’t. Enjoy dressing up.
Just really quickly, I must show you these knit sweater separates. They’re more interesting than any outfit photo I could post–and look rather desirable given the weather, or regardless! Seriously. Who would not want one of these?
From the current Sandra Backlund collection. Wow. And I assure you, the previous collections are also worth a gander.
A day or two late. Autumn is definitely here. I wore my first pair of jeans two nights ago, and found it was strange and sublime. I wore this outfit to a party on Saturday night–an odd night of drinking games and scandalous tales, and being depressed. It was fun. I love that whole standing in a leather jacket in the cold night with the smokers, not smoking, and wondering why, thing.

Thanks to Rebecca for helping me take the photos. My apologies for the lack of blogging lately (again). I’ve been overwhelmed with homework, thesis prep, pill-popping and freak-outs. My goal is to at least get three posts per week–two is not enough. And I want to get more personal. Maybe some opinion pieces. We’ll see what happens as life becomes less bizarre. (Maybe more.)
…on a Friday. Oops. Giving you another double shot of fashion this week, given my shameful lack of blogging–not by choice, believe me. I hope these two looks (complete with both pairs of my favorite new shoes!) tide you over until I figure out my blogging/homework/thesis schedule. Hopefully things settle down.
#1 – I wore this outfit Tuesday to a campus poetry reading. I am loving this old plaid shirt of my boyfriend’s, and have kind of stolen it. Also, gathered skirts are so, so fun.
This thermal has served me well over the years. No regrets here.
I die. These were worth the price tag.
I’ve had this scarf since high school, and it’s mesmerizing–there is absolutely no pattern. Aside from color, no two stripes are the same.

#2 – I wore this on Wednesday to my nonfiction class. It’s the outfit I would have worn to the Weakerthans concert if I didn’t have class. I am so, so sorry I missed it–I salute you, my Canadian heroes. Please enjoy this song while you look.
Saturday was one of those “me” days. I didn’t do much–slept in, threw on this savage top I just snagged at Forever 21 (last one), and, just for the hell of it, strutted to Rite Aid in my new Sam Edelman booties to shop for prescription drugs, Starburst, and pumpkin seeds (my essential oral fixation).
As much as I love this top (my god, I’ve been craving neon for months), these faux-Biagas–Balenciaga knockoffs, whatever you want to call them–are becoming my babies. They’re surprisingly walkable and versatile–and while they’re pretty pricey for me, they’re worth it–every step I take in these makes me feel like a rock & roll queen. I needed a boost this week (pun intended), and a great pair of boots lift my spirits on even the darkest of days.
