If you read my about page, you know I love to give gifts. Even to complete strangers, it seems. I’m told I have a talent for it, and I love to brighten up people’s lives. Fancy Find is no different. That’s why, whenever the mood particularly strikes me, I like to have prize giveaways. This blog is about sharing beautiful things, and it’s nice if they’re tangible once in a while.
This brings me to the gift program.
First off, Fancy Find is supported in two important ways, which help keep the site running:
Selected advertising, which offers you awesome links, products and discounts;
Generous reader donations.
The main reason readers donate to blogs is that they feel like they’re getting something valuable for free. Which, hopefully, they are. But people have to prioritize, and sometimes it’s nice (and necessary) to get good things for free when so many other valuable things cost money (insurance, rent, groceries, internet…shoes, concert tickets, candy). Sometimes it’s necessary to create more value for it to be worth your hard-earned cash (or even your pocket change).
That’s why I’ve come up with the Fancy Find gift program. Send a gift–get one back.
Here’s how it works. If you send Fancy Find a donation (any amount–you choose), I will send you (by snail mail):
a thank-you note
a personalized letter, handwritten in calligraphy & sealed with red wax
two additional surprises
Keep in mind that this will vary a little based on the size of your donation. Naturally, if you only send me $1 (which is still great!) I can’t afford to give you my best surprises, or write you a super-long letter. The more you donate, the more I’ll write, and the cooler extras you’ll receive. Also, don’t expect to get super fancy or expensive extras (like t-shirts, or gift cards, or toy poodles), even if you give a greater amount–after all, this is a donation, not a lottery (save that logic for my occasional prize giveaways)!
You will, however, get some lovely, inexpensive treats–and the greatest value here is the personalized letter. Why? Because it’s just for you. You can:
Tell me your favorite blog post/category, and I’ll only talk about that subject! OR…
Interview me with a question of your choice! OR…
Write me a personal message, and I’ll respond in kind! OR…
Ask me to tell you about my day! OR…
Any or all of the above–but again, I’m not a sweat shop worker :)
